Please note that due to the current Covid – 19 crisis Public Lending Right are working with reduced staffing and it will be taking longer to process any new PLR registrations or any additional title registrations.
We apologise for any inconvenience, but hope that authors will be understanding of the difficulties at this time. Further updates will be provided on the PLR website and via Twitter.
Our website provides published authors, illustrators and other contributors with an easy route to register for UK and Irish PLR. PLR is a legal right to payment from government in both countries each time their books are borrowed from public libraries. Our three steps to registration provides a quick guide to eligibility and applying for PLR.
The UK PLR scheme is administered by the British Library from its offices in Boston Spa whose contact details can be found here . The PLR office also provides registration for the Irish PLR scheme on behalf of the Public Lending Remuneration office.
Our website also provides further details of the work we do and through our media centre gives a unique insight into UK book borrowing tastes from the data collected from libraries across the country.
